We are in the midst of the 2017 awards show season. The Grammys are coming up next weekend, and two weeks later, the Academy Awards will air. So far, the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards have been big nights not only for movies and television, but for fashion, too.
The minimalist makeup trend continues to make an appearance on the red carpet, with celebrities opting for the “less is more” look. When it comes to red carpet apparel, celebrities have been rocking an array of bright colors. Metallics and black-illusion dresses have been a stand-out trend, as well. Read on to check out what some of the biggest stars chose to wear on the red carpet this year.
The Golden Globes Fit For a Princess
Lily Collins, Emma Stone, Carrie Underwood, Connie Briton and Zoe Saldana all chose pink, girly and etherial gowns for their big night. The pretty pinks and lacy detailing gave each actress a beautiful, regal look.
The Golden Gowns
Priyanka Chopra, Sofia Vergara, Kerry Washington, Sarah Paulson, and Chrissy Teigen all wore dark metallic gowns, many with illusion panelling underneath. They call it the Golden Globes for a reason. These actresses took the show’s title to a whole new level.
Standing Out On the Red Carpet in Yellow
Reese Witherspoon, Emily Ratajkowski, Viola Davis and Natalie Portman all chose beautiful, bright-yellow gowns for the Golden Globes. Salma Hayek stole the SAG Awards red carpet in a canary yellow dress with large pink flower accents.
The SAGs Were All An Illusion
Black-illusion dresses were huge at the SAG Awards this year. Emma Stone changed up her look from the Golden Globes and went for a racier dress, with black lace and bustier detailing. Kate Hudson and award-winner Claire Foy took part in the trend as well.
What do you like better: bright pinks and yellows or dark metallics and black? One thing we know for sure is that the Grammys next week are sure to bring some of the craziest fashion moments of the season, as it always does. The Oscars are also just around the corner and there will undoubtedly be an amazing display of classic to trendy looks from the most established designers.
