MTV’s Video Music Awards (VMA’s) were held September 12, 2023. With every award show, comes the anticipated red carpet looks. The VMAs have always had a great turnout of fantastic outfits worn by celebrities. This year, we saw a great amount of simplistic yet stunning choices of outfits. Chase Stokes
Actor Chase Stokes and new girlfriend, Kelsey Ballerini, walked the carpet together at this year’s VMAs. Stokes himself was looking red hot (literally), wearing a red trenchcoat paired with a black collared shirt and white pants underneath. The Outer Banks actor must know his color is red, because fans have seen him walk the red carpet in a very similar look at MTVs Movie/TV Awards in 2021. However, just because he’s done it before, does not mean he couldn’t make an attempt to do it better, and that’s what he did.
Kelsea Ballerini

Originally, Kelsea Ballerini had walked the red carpet with her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, in a matching floor-length red gown to Stokes’ red suit. The dress had a cut out in the middle and was a halter top, with a completely open back. Ballerini also performed at the show, where she did an outfit change mid song. While performing her song “Penthouse” she started out in a simple floor length white dress, then changed mid-performance into a black cocktail dress leaving fans speechless. All looks were simple yet stunning.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez walked the carpet of the VMAs in a red, lace material dress. Recently Gomez fired her old stylist, which has now allowed her to dress more to her personality and herself. The dress itself is cut off at a cocktail length, with parts of the dress continuing. This summer, there were many styles like this dress in boutiques across the US and in Australia and the UK. Gomez really did a great job of dressing to the trends and looks fabulous doing it.
Shakira
Shakira wore a stunning gold shimmering dress to the red carpet of this year’s VMAs. the gown was cut out on the sides above her hip and included a slit down her left leg. The singer also performed at the show, where she continued her gold theme in a two piece featherly knotted top and skirt. The outfit included tights with a bit of sparkle on them. Her hair matched beautifully on her red carpet look, keeping it simple and down yet a bit crimped. However during her performance a bit more wild and messy looking to match.
Olivia Rodrigo
The 20-year-old singer/ songwriter Olivia Rodrigo was seen on the red carpet wearing a fabulous yet simple silver floor length gown. The outfit showed that the popstar is getting more mature, and wants to dress the part. The beautiful slicked back hairstyle matches the dress perfectly. For her performance, Rodrigo wore a red two piece shirt and skirt set, which showed that she is still acknowledging her young spirit. Young girls are big fans of matching sets, and Rodrigo really showed that she can be both for younger and more mature generations of music.
