“Is it me, or is Valentine’s on steroids this year?”
This line from the Valentine’s Day single girls’ night out scene in the “Sex and the City” movie is all too familiar for many girls.
Well, we say: you don’t need a significant other to celebrate the Hallmark holiday. All you need is a friend and a couple of good ideas.
Date Night
Whether it’s with your best friend, roommate or a group of people, no night is as perfect for date night like Valentine’s Day. Go with a friend to one of your favorite restaurants and have a nice, fun dinner. To top it off, go catch a movie that you have both been dying to watch. (However, this might not be the perfect day to watch a romantic movie, like Safe Haven. Save that for February 15.)
Spa Day
Don’t feel like leaving your cozy apartment? Have a spa day with your roommates complete with manicures, pedicures, facials and gossip, of course. Order in some food, maybe even some yummy desserts, crank up some music and have your own little dance party.
Throw a Party
Had enough of the red hearts and love in the air? Go all out and throw a party for you and all of your single friends. Make sure to tell your friends to leave the red hearts at home and who knows, you might even find yourself next year’s Valentine.
Movie Marathon
Sometimes all you need is a good scare, especially on a day that is supposed to be dedicated to love. Invite all of your closest friends over, rent some of your favorite horror movies and let the screaming begin! Of course, don’t forget to have a ton of popcorn and candy.
Love isn’t all about a significant other. You only need your best friends to have a good, single time. And hey, Valentine’s Day only comes around once a year.
