In January, Lady Gaga announced her seventh album, “Mayhem,” which is set to be released on March 7th. Although she released an album called “Harlequin,” on Sept. 27 as a companion to the second Joker movie, “Folie à Deux,” fans are excited for new original songs and a new era of Gaga.

In an interview with ELLE, Gaga said,

Mayhem is about following your own chaos into whatever cranny of your life that it takes you to.

According to a Billboard article, Gaga’s fiancé, Michael Polansky, was the one that encouraged her to make another pop album, and even helped write some of the songs including “Disease.”

Her grammy winning song featuring Bruno Mars, “Die With A Smile,” is going to be featured as one of the 14 tracks on “Mayhem,” along with two singles that have already been released: “Disease,” and “Abracadabra.”

In that same ELLE interview, Gaga said that the sound of the album is chaotic and that some of her influences include, “’90s alternative, electro-grunge, Prince and Bowie melodies, guitar and attitude, funky bass lines, French electronic dance, and analog synths.”

Over the past two decades, Lady Gaga has been involved with many music and movie projects, but fans are particularly excited about “Mayhem,” because it seems reminiscent of older song’s by Gaga. From singing as a pop party girl to portraying scary yet sensual roles on “American Horror Story,” Gaga is known for adventurous fashion and storytelling. However, fans feared that she would never release another album with the type of pop music that made her famous. This was due to her work on many different projects like acting in “A Star is Born,” creating two albums with Tony Bennett and playing Lee Quinzel in “Joker: Folie à Deux.” According to Billboard, Gaga said that “Mayhem,” “started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved.”

Music Video Mayhem

With iconic looks like her meat dress from the 2010 MTV Music Video Awards, and when she wore a $30 million dollar yellow diamond necklace at the 2019 Oscars, Gaga has always been bold in her fashion choices. Her music videos are no different, this is where she truly shows her creativity.

“Disease,” is the first song and the first single from “Mayhem,” and it maintains Gaga’s old sound while still being original. In the music video, she is dressed in different eccentric outfits while she battles and physically struggles with different versions herself. Watch it here!

“Abracadabra,” is the latest single off of “Mayhem,” and the video opens with Gaga saying, “The category is dance or die.” The rest of the video features a large group of dancers and elaborate choreography. Gaga’s videos have always been incredibly visually intense, and “Disease,” and “Abracadabra,” are no different. The “Disease,” music video is similar to when she played different characters in her “Yoü And I,” music video. “Abracadabra” is more dance focused like “Bad Romance.” After all these years, fans are excited that she’s managed to capture the fun and experimental elements of her older hits.

What to Watch Out For

Lady Gaga is set to headline this year’s Coachella along with Green Day, Post Malone and Travis Scott. The last time she performed was in 2017.

Along with promoting her new album, it seems that Gaga will continue acting. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gaga is expected to appear in Season two of Netflix’s original show, “Wednesday.”
