Almost Here Summer Readings

BrittanyTrappe_ReadingListWith the summer season rapidly approaching, its time to stockpile a few books to read while soaking up the sun. Here are some of the most anticipated novels of Spring 2013, so keep an eye out for them.

“The Interestings” by Meg Wolitzer

The summer that president Nixon resigns, six teenagers at performing arts summer camp become best friends. Years later the bond remains influential and strong, but a lot can change in that time. In “The Interestings”, Wolitzer follows the characters through their lives, their achievements, shortcomings and fates of these six artists.

“Ten Things I’ve Learnt About Love” by Sarah Butler

A touching and heart wrenching story that follows two individuals, Alice and Daniel, through their lives. Alice, the misfit of her family, enjoys traveling to far away places and avoiding family contact. But when she hears the news that her father is dying, Alice is forced to return home and rediscover what it means to be a family. Daniel is a homeless man, living on the streets of London. He has next to nothing, except a daughter that exists somewhere in the world, whom he has never met. “Ten Things I’ve Learnt About Love” is about unbreakable bonds, homecomings and finding love where you would least expect it.

“The Unknowns: A Novel” by Gabriel Roth

“The Unknowns” follows a boy, Eric Muller, through his adolescence and educational experiences as a nerd. As an undergrad, Eric has never had a girlfriend. He observes them, writes down whether or not he thinks they will date him, and does nothing with that information. Later on in life, Eric is a millionaire with a certain charm that helps him attract ladies. But when he falls in love with Maya, for real, he is once again in uncharted waters.
