Anticipated Movies of 2019

For some people, the Super Bowl is about their favorite teams playing the great American sport, but for others it’s all about the commercials. Due to the millions of people tuning in, it only makes sense that multiple brand new movie  trailers are released during the commercials. Since getting a slot in the commercial lineup isn’t cheap, these trailers could be considered some of the most anticipated movies of 2019:

Avengers: Endgame

Since the release of Iron Man in 2008, the Marvel cinematic universe has only grown. “Avengers: Endgame” is the the fourth movie in the line of Avengers movies and brings the full count of superhero movies in the Marvel franchise to over 20.

For those who haven’t seen the Marvel movies yet, there’s a lot to catch up on, but it’s a must-do since Endgame is the culmination of a story line set in motion with the first Iron Man movie over 10 years ago.

SPOILER ALERT: With most of the main characters dusted and presumably stuck in the soul stone, the six original Avengers must come up with a plan to get half of the human population back.

Back in October of 2018, Chris Evans (Captain America) shocked fans with a tweet, saying goodbye to Captain America and the Marvel franchise, which most can assume means that his character may be one that doesn’t make it out of Endgame alive.

Marvel has kept just about every aspect of the movie a secret, so there isn’t much to be known about the plot, other than it’s going to be worth the 10 year wait.

“Avengers: Endgame” will be released on April 26, 2019.

Captain Marvel

Another Marvel movie, “Captain Marvel” is set to be released almost two months before “Avengers: Endgame,” however there is not much of a chance for Endgame to be spoiled since “Captain Marvel” takes place before any of the other Marvel movies do.

The movie follows Carol Danvers, a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot who becomes one of the most powerful heroes in the galaxy and returns to Earth to find out more about where she comes from.

At the end of the last Avengers movie “Avengers: Infinity War,” Nick Fury can be seen sending a message to Captain Marvel, so it can only be assumed that she will play a major part of saving the human race in “Avengers: Endgame.”

“Captain Marvel” will be released on March 8, 2019.

Toy Story 4

After “Toy Story 3,” no one expected there to be another, especially since the last one ended on such a high note. With Andy going off to college and Buzz and Woody happily settling in to their new kids home, it seemed like a good place to end the franchise. Now, almost 25 years after the original movie air date, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks are back as Buzz and Woody for the last time *maybe.*

Not much has been released when it comes to the plot of the movie, but from the two teaser trailers, all that can be said is that there will be some new toys and some of it will take place at a carnival. So far, only two new toys have been shown; a stuffed rabbit and duck, voiced by Penn State alum Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, the classic duo from “Key & Peele.”

In an interview with late night host Jimmy Fallon, Tim Allen teased fans saying that the movie script was so emotional, he couldn’t get through the last page. After the ending of “Toy Story 3,” how much more emotional can it get?

“Toy Story 4” will be released on June 21, 2019.

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Starting as a children’s book by Alvin Schwartz, “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” is now becoming a major motion picture. The book is a series of three books, based on folklore and urban legends.

The movie adaptation will be based on the stories from the book, woven together as a group of kids attempt to solve the mystery of these scary stories unfolding in their town.

Just like the other movies on this list, there are hardly any plot details known about the movie at this time. However, four TV spots were released during the Super Bowl, giving the audience a 30-second glimpse at some of the scary stories being depicted in the film.

The movie is being produced by Guillermo del Toro, winner of an Academy Award for Best Director for The Shape of Water.

“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” will be released on August 9, 2019.
