On March 29, Billie Eilish released her highly anticipated first album, “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” Eilish, whose career skyrocketed after her debut song, “Ocean Eyes,” which has made appearances in movies such as “Everything, Everything,” has been in the public eye ever since she was just 14 years old. Known for her incredible vocals and distinct style, 17-year-old Eilish is topping charts and pushing boundaries all while evolving as an artist.
In 2017, Eilish’s EP, “don’t smile at me,” which includes her song, “Ocean Eyes,” reached one billion streams on Spotify. At the young age of 15 years old, Eilish became the youngest artist to ever hit the one billion streaming mark. Songs from her EP such as “idontwannabeyouanymore,” “bellyache” and “COPYCAT” have all reached over 100 million streams on Spotify. Her unique music videos, such as “bellyache,” from “don’t smile at me” have gained close to 200 million streams on YouTube. Along with her EP, she topped charts with singles she released last year such as “lovely,” the collab she did with Khalid, and “Bored,” her song for season two of “13 Reasons Why.”
Just two years after her release of the EP, “don’t smile at me,” Billie Eilish dropped her very first album “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?,” which has been talked about non-stop since its release. Her album, which has been praised for her insane vocals and production quality, features songs that have been charting on Spotify’s Top 5 chart since the release of “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?,” according to an article from Headline Planet.
Songs such as “when the party’s over,” which currently has 330 million Spotify streams, and “bad guy,” which currently has 42 million Spotify streams, have reached a significant amount of praise in such a short time. Other songs such as “xanny,” “bury a friend” and “you should see me in a crown,” have also become fan favorites. Many fans on Instagram and Twitter have given praise to Eilish’s songs, “listen before i go” and “i love you” for their slow and meaningful lyrics along with Eilish’s vocals.
To make “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” even more extravagant, Eilish transformed her album into an experience by creating a museum, the “Billie Eilish Experience,” that reflected her album. Free of charge, the “Billie Eilish Experience” includes individual rooms dedicated to each of her songs that embody the emotions, experience and even the smells and sounds she encountered when writing her album. Eilish told Billboard that she “wanted to take my synesthesia,” which Billboard says “causes her to see colors and smell sounds when she’s making music,” and “give it to the world and show everybody what it feels like.”
Although we don’t know where we all go when we fall asleep, VALLEY knows we’re going to go stream the album ASAP. If you haven’t heard “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?,” you can stream it on Spotify and Apple Music.
