Brackets, Basketball and Betting

It’s that time of year again when basketball is on every TV and thrilling upsets shock the nation. March Madness, a single-elimination tournament played by all the Division I NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) teams, has the country creating over five million brackets in the span of a week. With that being said, your fair share of different combinations and debates on who will win will certainly spark controversy amongst colleagues, family and friends.

How do you make a bracket?

To make a bracket, use the NCAA’s official bracket challenge or ESPN’s Tournament Challenge. Next, you can use the info and understanding of the seeding to make your picks. Be aware of upsets that might happen with lower-seed teams. You can make your own groups and set tiebrakers to embrace the madness. Or, if the weight of choosing is too heavy, autopick is available for those who are indecisive.

There are many types of brackets out there that says a lot about the person it’s tied to. All of that to say, what does your March Madness bracket say about you…

The Overcompetitive One

This type of person we all know and love (to hate). Their bracket is the most concise and intentional. If they were to ask why you picked a certain team to win, they’d be the first person to say you are wrong and will evidently lose. Honestly, their determination is admirable, but their constant word in your ear can be maddening (no pun intended).

The Vibe Picker

This person picks up straight off vibes. Whether it’s the team’s color, mascot or who they think will win off of zero statistics, they’re probably one of the calmest and most nonchalant people in your life. Ironically, they’re also the one that ends up being first in your group’s bracket with the most points (this might be your subtle sign your sign to pick off vibes).

The Couldn’t Care Less

This person wants nothing to do with March Madness and lets out an outstanding sigh when told they should make a bracket. They believe it to be stupid and unnecessary. They are the ones who join a group reluctantly and make a bracket using the autopick feature. They barely keep up with the games and probably have no idea how to work the app.

The Bandwagon

We all know at least one bandwagon in our lives. They have the team projected to win as their winner (shocker). You ask why they picked this team to win and they have nothing to say other than the fact that the team is good. This is simply for bragging rights that they picked the winning team. They certainly aren’t loyal to one team and are constantly changing their “favorite” each year.
