Bringing Them Back: Overalls

Back in the day, moms used to dress us up in our little denim overalls. A 90s trend we can all remember sported not only by kids but also the fabulous stars of the funky era.  Take inspiration from one of our favorite sitcoms, Friends, where Monica Geller first taught us how to rock the overalls. Now in 2016, overalls are back and better than ever. If you haven’t invested in your new and improved pair yet, now is the time!

They can be super chic or laid-back casual, it all depends on your personal style and how you decide to wear them. They could be a ripped boyfriend style or a sophisticated straight leg, either way overalls are taking over this fall. You can pair them with converse for class or with wedges for a night out.

You can find pieces at Urban Outfitters, with a selection in store and online. Mary Finnel, a Penn State senior and sales associate at Urban Outfitters, is a fan of the comeback piece.

“I’d say my favorite way to wear them for the fall is with a small baby crop top and high-top vans,” Finnel says. She also recommends unbuckling one strap on your overalls, for a comfortable and casual twist.

Overalls can easily be styled to transition into fall. Layer them with your favorite t-shirt on the remaining hot, sunny September days and cozy up with a knit sweater under the denim when the weather takes a turn for the cold.

Denim or corduroy, you can’t go wrong! Denim has a more causal feel, while corduroy gives off a more sophisticated vibe. With the Canadian tuxedo — throwback to the infamous red carpet Justin and Brittney denim on denim — coming back in style, denim overalls are a simpler way to rock this trend. Because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t prefer the ease of one piece to two?

You can find overalls in the Urban Outfitters on College Ave or browse their selection online! Mix up your fall style and embrace the overalls trend!
