Living forever seems like wishful thinking, but there are people out there finding new methods and lifestyles in order to ‘beat death.’ Although it seems highly inevitable, researchers, nutritionists and other theorists continue to find ways to prolong our lives.

Starting Small Habits

An extreme change to your daily lifestyle is not desirable for most, so it’s best to start small and work your way up! Little changes can lead to bigger milestones. For starters, evaluate what you eat in a day. Is it balanced like the food pyramid we learned in elementary school? What’s missing?

A balanced diet and regular exercise have long-term benefits for our health and life expectancy. 60 minutes of walking, lifting or stretching keeps our physical health in order. It’s the oldest trick in the book that has been proven to work over and over again.

Mental health is equally important to our physiological health. From our head down to our toes, everything is connected. There are benefits to gratitude journaling, even if it is only for 10 minutes out of your day.

Vitamins, Vitamins and More Vitamins

Peter Attia, a Canadian-American author and physician, talks about his five pillars of health that can improve longevity – one being vitamins and other supplements. On his website, he details different medications and supplements that fight against metabolic diseases or cancer. Attia has a balanced outlook of holistic and atomistic approach to longevity.

Like Attia, there are people out there trying to kick start their journey of longevity. Corey Deasy, local Pittsburgh business owner and health enthusiast, started to see progress when he added more vitamins in his lifestyle and transformed his diet:

“Within three months of healthy eating, exercise and taking around 7 vitamins a day I lost around 30 lbs.”

While his journey stemmed from his long-term goal of lowering his cholesterol and blood pressure, Deasy researched physicians like Attia who has outlined a plan on how to live longer. He took some extreme measures like a shot of extra-virgin olive oil before meals and an average of 5 pills per time of day, Deasy has stated he feels 20 years younger.

So, Can We Beat Death?

The short answer is probably not. Life has an expiration date, but it is what we do in between to spend an extra couple years here. Future research and studies may prove us all wrong and find a cure to death. In the meantime, we have the power over our lives to try new methods or lifestyles to better our physical and mental health.
