We all have our favorite celebrities that we obsess over and wish we could be (need I mention the countless tweets about Jennifer Lawrence?). What about our television show, movie and book character girl crushes? They play as important of a role as celebrity inspiration.

This Thursday, let’s take a moment to reflect on the series of novels that is quite possibly the reason for the downfall of our generation: “The Clique.” In this series, a group of pretentious seventh graders – yes, seventh graders – refer to themselves as “the pretty committee.” I’m pretty sure if any of us referred to ourselves as “the pretty committee” today we would be exiled from this campus.

There is one question asked among every family or group of friends that always leads to disagreements, and someone always ends up losing. It’s a question that has caused conflict for years. That’s right. It’s, “What movie should we watch?”

Middle School, aka the good old days. The days when life was carefree and wasn’t consumed by homework and exams. Don’t you wish you could go back? Well… maybe not.

Matthew Schuler was a season five contestant on The Voice and even though he didn’t win it all, he still made show history. If you have yet to see Matt’s blind audition, please do yourself a favor and listen to his beautiful Young the Giant cover. He didn’t even have to sing for ten seconds before all four coaches knew they wanted him and turned their chairs around, making his audition the fastest four-chair turn in The Voice history.

The media is a powerful thing. If you think about it, every piece of information we know about the world has been expressed or portrayed in the media. Television, movies, magazines, ad campaigns, newspapers, whatever channel it may be.

Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of our favorite time-killing website Reddit and author of the book, “Without Their Permission,” made an appearance on campus this past Saturday to have a serious chat with Penn Staters about taking risks, exploring your passions and most importantly, picking a kick-ass mascot.

What’s better than talking behind somebody’s back? Talking behind somebody’s back right in front of their face. People across the world started tweeting about someone to no one. And thus, an art form was born. The subtweet. The Twitter world began to explode with endless forms of subtweets that never fail to entertain.

There something unexplainably adorable about celebrity best friends that makes us all fall in love with them. Seeing their pictures out shopping and being normal people remind us that maybe, just maybe, they’re not so different from us after all.

Last night, Valley hung out with heartthrob and Magic Mike superstar Alex Pettyfer. Okay, so we didn’t get to actually meet him (maybe in our dreams). But Valley was given the amazing opportunity to join a virtual college roundtable and talk to Pettyfer about his upcoming film, Endless Love (out February 14) as well as past and future projects.

Last night, we all gathered around the buffalo chicken wings and the television set to watch the biggest game of the year. By no means can we call it the best game of the year, judging by the scoreboard and the many memes floating around the Twittersphere of a disappointed Peyton Manning.

Everybody makes fun of MTV and VH1 “music” channels for doing everything that isn’t related to music, but we need to remember that they gave us the greatest gift of all – trashy reality dating shows. You can find trashy TV anywhere nowadays, but it isn’t the same as watching a marathon of trailer-park girls screaming at each other or some weird nerdy kid on MTV dating someone’s mom.
