Choose Your Character

The Super Smash Bros theme song starts playing. A selection of clothing aesthetics pop up on the screen, which one will you be today? Expressing yourself through fashion helps you show who you really are. VALLEY believes clothing is the easiest way to say what you want without speaking any words. The theme song is about to replay itself, think about it then make your choice.

Urban Downtown

The downtown aesthetic is one of the new characters to show up since the recent updates. This style of clothing requires a lot of sweaters, denim and the occasional leather piece.

Fall is the perfect time to choose this character because of its warm colors and layering techniques. The cold won’t bother you since you’ll be too busy jamming to Dark Red by Steve lacy to notice.

Another aspect of the downtown aesthetic is its ties to literature and music. More often than not, those who enjoy the style are found drinking coffee and studying or listening to niche vinyls. Autumn is basically here, does the downtown character speak to you?

Get the Look

There are several ways to get the downtown clothing aesthetic. A good number of the pieces associated with the look come from thrift stores, so be sure to visit the second-hand shops in your area.

Online stores are another option to help you immerse in the character. A few of the more well-known sites are Edikted, Alefric Eden and PacSun.

Classic Copenhagen

Another character relatively new to the scene is Copenhagen which utilizes many simple pieces. Most of these outfits include cardigans, linen jackets and golden jewelry.

In these outfits, there are many muted and pastel colors. If you choose Copenhagen as your character, you most likely prefer warmer weather. Spring and summer are the seasons for lighter materials and patterns after all.

Where to Shop

For the Copenhagen aesthetic, there are a few online stores that can help you recreate the outfits. Djerf Avenue is a store created by Tiktok influencer Matilda Djerf with pieces designed specifically for the style.

Another item from Djerf Avenue that fits the Copenhagen aesthetic is the Straight Jeans Mid Blue. The appeal of denim transcends seasons, and is one of the key components of this clothing style.

Gutsy Grunge

The last character in the first row is wearing grunge. This clothing aesthetic requires a lot of leather, darker colors and heavy fabric. Leather jackets are a commonality and there are the occasional ripped tights.

VALLEY believes the grunge aesthetic is synonymous with the nineties. Just as alternative music kicked off, people emulated their favorite artists. Grunge nowadays meets the same requirements, but with a more modern appeal.

Shop Grunge, Shop Now

Just as with the downtown aesthetic, it is quite easy to find grunge pieces in second-hand stores. Purchasing garments for this look doesn’t have to be expensive, especially since the grittiness and heaviness of the pieces makes it what it is.

There are also online stores that offer clothing for the grunge look. A few of these shops are Emmiol and Urban Outfitters.

This top is the Urban Renewal Remnants Lace Long Sleeve Blouse. This is an example of the more feminine side of grunge, as it has mesh flowers and a bow incorporated in its design.

This piece is the Men Fuzzy Stripe Print Loose Sweater from Emmiol. Since baggy clothing has recently risen in popularity, this sweater brings a newer perspective to grunge compared to that of the nineties.
