Day to Night Makeup Made Easy

All college students can agree that a dominant theme in life is that they’re always crunched for time. Whether it’s running from the library to a night out, or from the gym to work, there’s rarely time for a break, or in this case, a makeup break. If you’re like us and refuse to let your makeup routine fall victim to lack of free time, then we’ve got the perfect way to take your day makeup to night with just a few easy steps.

Lips

Adding a pop of color to your lips is the easiest and most popular way to add drama to your makeup. For the winter season, we recommend Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Unicorn Blood ($18,www.beautylish.com). This creates a matte deep red lip so try to keep it simple on top and pair it with a quick cat-eye and lots of mascara. Tarte Cosmetics gel liner ($21,www.tartecosmetics.com) is perfect for those who haven’t yet mastered the cat-eye technique.

Lids

If you’re not one for a dramatic lip — don’t fret! Just as quickly as swiping on a lipstick, you can add major drama to your lids. When you’re crunched for time it can be hard to perfect the smokey eye. Instead, try lining the eyes and carefully smudging a dark metallic shadow such as Aqua Cream Shadow by Makeup Forever ($23, www.sephora.com) along the tight line and lower lash line.

Face

These makeup looks can be achieved in 5 minutes or less, but let’s say you’re severely lost for time but need to freshen up your face; what do you do? Here are three steps for you that can be achieved together in one minute and will leave you feeling refreshed and ready for the night.

1. Contour your cheeks and the temples of your forehead. We all know how important contouring is and adding a little bit more of it to your cheeks then you normally would during the day is perfect for a night out.

2. Highlight! Highlight above the cheekbones where the light would naturally hit your face for that goddess glow. A secret tip is to also dab some highlighter in the tear duct of your eye as it opens up your eyes and makes you look more awake.

3. Load on the mascara. Mascara is a magical tool and the staple to every makeup look. Even with a nude lip and eye, mascara has the power to glam up every look.

Before you leave your house for the day, pack whatever makeup you plan on using that day to switch your looks from day to night. Most makeup artists would recommend choosing either a bold lip or a smokey eye since the looks tend to compete against each other. Remember, the single most important thing is to be confident whether you’re rocking a red lip or no make up at all.
