Doom scrolling places our fingers and brains in a trance of endless screen time and dissociation in front of our screens. It becomes a reflex for our thumbs to swipe up the second a video replays or loses our interest. Although we set goals for ourselves in the outside world, we sink into our phones and lose all motivation. Is there a solution to combine our screen time and self-care? In this day and age, there is always an app that can keep you on track with your goals or be the mental health resource needed in your life.

Introducing: Verity Health

A new mental health app has hit the App Store and Google Play that transcends the user’s experience to enhance their personal growth with enticing incentives including points, badges and a reward system to convert your points into money for a gift card! Essentially, the app motivates you to engage in various exercises and be rewarded for your positive acts!

Verity Health allows you to track your progress with a daily streak and displays your ranking to other users on a scoreboard. To earn your daily points, there is a daily challenge wheel that includes all the activities: mood tracking, equilibrium exercise to center yourself, mindfulness exercises, journaling, medication check-ins and health assessments.

Friendly & Affordable Competition

As mentioned before, there is a scoreboard to see your all-time and weekly rankings against other users. If you and some friends were to download and use the app regularly, it could create healthy competition to see who earns more points by the end of the week! But that’s not all. Verity Health has created a team for all Penn State students to join and compete against other schools! While all your hard-earned points go to your personal growth and reward system, it also contributes to the PSU team total.

Oh, did VALLEY mention there’s a FREE access code for all Penn State Students? Yes, Verity Health has given all PSU students a free 3-month trial using the code ‘PENN25’ to allow users to experience all the features within the app and earn points along the way. The app recognizes the need for an engaging mental health resource and reduced costs for users.

Verity Health’s goal is to reach as many students as possible who want to feel rewarded for the time they invest in their personal growth. College can feel daunting, exhausting and financially burdening. If a simple, effective app like Verity Health can ease our minds from daily stressors and doom scrolling, why not give it a go? After all, you have the power to start your journey to a better version of yourself.
