Diva Drama: Nicki Minaj’s Recent Feuds

We all remember that time period where Nicki Minaj and Lil’ Kim were nonstop trashing each other in their songs. And, it sure is hard to forget the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, when Nicki called Miley Cyrus out with her famous, “Miley, what’s good?!” From cussing Mariah Carey out on the “American Idol” set to putting Taylor Swift on blast on Twitter, Nicki Minaj has proved herself to be quite the queen of beef. Most of these past feuds have been settled over the years, however, recently Nicki’s name has been back in the news with some more drama. Here’s everything you need to know about the rap queen’s recent quarrels.

Nicki vs. Travis Scott

Ever since Travis Scott’s new album, “Astroworld,” has been topping the charts, Minaj has had it out for him. Her album, “Queen,” was released only a week after his and didn’t receive nearly the same amount of attention. Minaj complained that Scott uses unfair marketing tactics to promote his album, such as getting his mega-famous girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, to constantly advertise for him. “I put my blood, sweat and tears into writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling people to come see her and Stormi,” she tweets, “Lol. I’m actually laughing.”

She then came at Scott’s neck in an interview with Apple Music’s Beats 1. All of Scott’s “Astroworld” merchandise sold on his online store comes with an album download, and those downloads have been counted into the album’s total sales. Minaj thinks this is wildly unfair. “What we’re not gonna do is have that auto-tune man selling f**king sweaters telling you he sold half a million albums, because he f**king didn’t,” she exclaims to Beats 1.

Thankfully, the feud between the artists has seemed to have dissipated over the course of the last month, according to Entertainment Tonight. A week after calling Scott out about his merch, Minaj revealed she actually has nothing but love for Kylie Jenner and respects her for standing by her man. I’m sure we can all be glad that these two amazing rap albums can now coexist in peace.

Nicki vs. Cardi B

The collaboration on the hit Migos song “MotorSport” was where it all started between these two. Minaj says she felt generally disrespected by Cardi B throughout the recording process, telling Zane Lowe on Beats 1 that Cardi showed her “no genuine love.” Cardi claims it was all a misunderstanding and states “she was never feuding with anybody” in an interview on Sirius XM. The rap queens seemed to have cleared the air by the time the 2018 Met Gala came along, because they were seen chatting and even taking photos together.

But did the drama end there? Nope.

The beef still remaining between the two got wildly out of hand at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party last week. Eyewitness reports claim that Cardi approached Minaj around 11:30 p.m. in a crowded hallway, provoking Minaj with comments and trying to kick and punch her. Security quickly formed a barricade between the two ladies, but not before Cardi could hurl a shoe at Minaj for reportedly making fun of her daughter. The shoe just missed Nicki, but Cardi wasn’t so lucky to walk away unscathed. She was seen leaving the party with a huge knot on her forehead caused by a security man who had accidentally elbowed her during the madness.

This crazy feud shocked the world, as we all assumed that the drama between them had been settled for awhile now. Cardi clarified the situation on her Instagram later that night. From what she said, apparently Minaj has continued shading Cardi throughout this whole year. “I’ve let a lot of sh*t slide! I let you sneak diss me, I let you lie on me,” she writes. “You’ve threatened other artists in the industry, told them if they work with me you’ll stop f**kin with them!! I let you talk big sh*t about me!! I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped the plea!!”

And well, as we’ve seen, folks, Cardi really isn’t trying to let this slide anymore. Minaj came forth to comment on the situation saying, “I would never ridicule anyone’s child … I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting … These lies are ridiculous.” Minaj stated that she was embarrassed to have an altercation at such an esteemed event in front of “upper echelon people who have their lives together.”

It’s safe to say that, unfortunately, the beef between these two very talented women may not be over for a minute.
