The beginning of the school year means every student is starting anew in one way or another; whether that means filling a funkier pencil case, taking on challenging classes, decorating a different apartment or flashing your freshest fashion choices.
The majority of the female Penn State community proves to be consistent in their athleisure-leaning classroom fits, followed by the classic white beater shoe, jeans and tiny-top combo for the night. However, VALLEY foresees new variations within the typical fashion patterns seen on campus.
Class Fits
This fall, VALLEY predicts a growing popularity in the laid-back, preppy aesthetic for class. You can assume you’ll spot girls in schoolgirl-style crewnecks, and potentially, some linen-striped wide-leg pants in lectures.
When the girls wake up feeling motivated to prioritize their clothes over comfort, look forward to seeing cute cardigans with jeans and flats or Adidas Sambas.
Athleisure Specific
Although we foresee the preppy aesthetic becoming more prominent for class attire, dressing in athleisure wear is the way to show up to class in true, traditional Penn State fashion.
VALLEY predicts a shift in the popular pickings of “athleisure” brands. For example, there will be a preference for Alo over Lululemon and Madhappy x Gap sweatsuits over last year’s favored White Fox hoodies.
In The Night
As for our legal girls, bar attire might be taking a step up this fall. Don’t be surprised if you notice boots at the bars partnered with a cute mini skirt to ensure they’re shown off. Boots have always been a staple in fall fashion. VALLEY thinks the Penn State seniors will pick up on it more than ever this fall.
Accessories
Accessories are the key to elevating any look, and this fall we’re expecting to see some louder pieces. Although the EP Jewels bubble initial necklace’s time is clearly not up on campus, VALLEY thinks the girls will start adding charm bracelets and necklaces to their stacks.
Additionally, for the girls who prefer a more authentic and unique look, expect some chunkier statement necklaces.
Overall, VALLEY forecasts a more preppy, mature, chic look for the daytime with a chance of fall-friendly miniskirts throughout the night. Although the fashion climate in State College is steady and dependable, we are predicting scattered storms. These are brought by the sound of boots rushing to the bars and heavy rain dripping down from the diamond charm jewelry pieces dangling from students’ necks.
