For the past two years, music festivals and concerts have all but halted since the start of the pandemic with this year’s Coachella being more highly anticipated than ever before. While we may not all be influencers, celebrities or Californians that can easily visit the festival, there’s one thing we have to look forward to — Movin’ On.
For the first time since 2019, Penn State’s music festival is back and better than ever with musical guests such as Fitz and the Tantrums, Amine and (saving the best for last) Jack Harlow (not to brag, but VALLEY thinks we might’ve manifested Jack Harlow coming to State College).
Whether you’re living it up in Indio, California or bringing your A-Game to the IM fields here are some festival-inspired looks and accessories that are must-haves for all of festival season.
Shoes
If there’s one thing that everyone knows about music festivals, it’s that we all underestimate how much walking we’ll actually be doing. Here are some tried and true shoe recommendations we think you’ll want to consider in your outfit planning with one thing in mind — comfort and closed-toed shoes.
- Doc Martens — fair warning, you’re going to want to make sure they are extremely broken in before having to stand for hours on end in these bad boys.
- Converse — platform Converse has been all the rage for the past two years, but let’s be honest — there’s nothing like a classic pair of Chucks that can go with anything.
Accessories
Accessories are the thing that can make or break any outfit. From jewelry to sunglasses, they are always the last finishing touches that can really set you apart from everyone else. Here are some recommendations for all of the ways that we can spice up our concert looks:
- Body chains — To add a subtle touch of shine and make you look more put together than you actually are. Also, couldn’t hurt to have in general for a pool day at The Standard.
- Sunglasses — While we all have that staple pair of sunnies that we wear on those unbearably sunny State College days, who’s to say we can’t step up our game for the IM Fields?
- Fannypacks — A festival staple if there ever was one. If you’ve been eyeing the Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag this is your sign to bite the bullet and get one yourself.
- Body glitter — Nothing screams Coachella more than body glitter. Whether it’s on your body or your face, it’s the one thing that really sells us on the whole festival thing.
Festival Lookbook
It’s a blessing in disguise that Coachella is happening right now because we have all the influencers and celebrities in the world to take notes from. So get out your pen and paper, because these are the aesthetics and outfit inspirations we think you should consider in your outfit planning.
If there’s one thing you need to keep in mind, it’s to wear whatever you feel the most confident and comfortable in. After all who knows, maybe a certain 6’3 Pisces might notice you in the crowd…
