Festive Fall Drinks

We rely on the PSL to bring us in and out of fall, and we’re not going to lie—it always does a great job holding down the fort. But just because it has the title of the traditional fall drink doesn’t mean we should limit ourselves. So expand your taste buds’ horizons for fall and try these fun new recipes.

Apple Cider Fizz

Fill about 1/4 of the glass with ginger beer, a soda slightly like ginger ale but with a stronger ginger flavor, over ice. Then fill the rest of the glass with fresh apple cider. Top with cinnamon for a fizzy, spicy, refreshing cocktail while the weather is still sunny and a little bit warm.

Pumpkin Milkshake

If you’re hankering for a sweet treat, try this fall inspired dessert drink. As a general rule, combine two scoops of vanilla ice cream (or cinnamon, or whatever fall flavor the Creamery has!) with a scoop of brown sugar, a heavy scoop of pumpkin puree, a dash of cinnamon, and a little bit of milk to thin it out. Top with whipped cream. However, you can add more or less of these ingredients to suit your taste. This recipe is very flexible! If you’re 21 and want to make this a milkshake for grown-ups, we recommending adding a spiced rum like Captain Morgan.

The Toasted Almond

For those legals, here is a cocktail that doesn’t pack much alcoholic punch, but brings a lot to the table in delicious, creamy flavor. There’s nothing better for chilly days than a sweet cocktail to warm you up inside—plus, amaretto is just delicious, plain and simple. To make it, combine 1 1/2 oz. amaretto liqueur, 1 1/2 oz. Kahlua coffee liqueur, and 1 oz. cream in a cocktail shaker with ice (we recommend a cocktail shaker with measurements on the side to simplify things), and serve over ice.

Hard Cider (shown)

Finally, for a warm and toasty late-night-in-November treat, warm up 1/2 cup cider on the stove or in the microwave, and add the desired amount of Fireball whiskey. The sweet/tart from the apple and the cinnamon from the whiskey make a great drink to cozy up with.

Bottoms up!

Editor’s note: Valley Magazine neither supports nor condones irresponsible or underage drinking. Please consume alcoholic beverages responsibly.
