Hair color can be a bit difficult to choose. Not everyone wants to dye their hair, but once you start, it’s hard to stop. Choosing a hair color that fits you perfectly can be impossible, but there is a way. It’s all about finding out what the undertone of your skin is.

So, how do you find out what your undertone is? There are three main undertones for skin: cool, warm and neutral. If you take a look at your wrist and your veins are blue or purple, you have a cool undertone. If your veins are green or olive, then you have a warm undertone. Lastly, if you have blue-green veins, then you have a neutral undertone.

If you have a cool undertone, here are the hair colors that would fit you more. Cool undertones align best with cool hair colors like ash brown, icy brown or a cool dark brown. A light copper, ash blonde and platinum blonde would suit cool undertones. If you are looking to experiment a bit more, then try violet, icy blue, deep navy or lavender.

Going on to warm undertones, stick with warm colors to make yourself stand out. Choosing colors like deep chocolate brown, honey brown, honey blonde and brown copper. Other colors to check out could be brown to red ombre, amber and caramel.

If you mix warm hair colors with a cool undertone, most likely, it will wash you out instead of enlightening you.

Since neutral tones are right in the middle, there is a lot of variety. Neutral undertones don’t have to worry about having a color that is too warm or too cool because it will most likely fit you.

The good news is that you can experiment with any hair color to see what your personal preference is. The bad news is that it might take some time to figure out what specific color you like because there are so many to choose from.

More Research

There are skin undertones that are in between each undertone. You could have a cool-neutral undertone or a warm-neutral undertone, so it is always good to research on your own to find out what other hair colors you can do.
