Girlies, What’s My Blindness?

Some make-up routines are close to a 12-step process. Foundation, concealer, contour, blush, highlighter, mascara and whatever else suits you. That is the thing about make-up, there is a pallet and shade match for everyone. What compliments one person might not work for another and that is okay!

Put Down the Blinders

Now on TikTok, users have been asking viewers for advice on their ‘beauty blindness.’

Beauty blindness is just another way to ask, “What can I do to make myself prettier?” When you think about it though, what do random people in our TikTok comment sections know about our appearance?

Eyebrow Blindness

The most commonly talked about one is eyebrow blindness. Eyebrows have arguably been one of the most flexible beauty aspects with different standards throughout the years.

First, the trend is thick, bushy eyebrows and the next day the fad is to bleach them. Sometimes everyone wants thin eyebrows and other times people are doing laminated eyebrows. The options are endless. But every week there seems to be only one right answer.

If you desire pink eyebrows that are paper thin and evenly lined on your forehead then do it! It doesn’t matter what eyebrows Hailey Bieber is wearing for the week.

Blush Blindness

What is even more noticeable than eyebrows? The amount of blush strategically placed on the apple of our cheeks.

Blush is such a pigmented make-up that can take down a perfectly even base. There can be such a thing as too much or too little, but that is only because of unrealistic beauty standards.

TikTok and the entirety of ‘beauty blindness’ have made people feel insecure about something that once made them so confident. Pink, purple or coral blush? Cream or powder finish? There are options for a reason. People should not feel at fault for using them.

Let’s Open Our Eyes

This trend is becoming another excuse for people to acceptably pick on each other. There is nothing blind about a woman’s beauty.

The next time Patrick TA or Rare Beauty launches a new product that you desire, don’t think about the trend it follows. Color in your eyebrows or tweeze them out! Overline your lips or leave them bare! Your beauty is defined by you and you only.
