It’s almost that time, seniors. The time to pick out our white dresses or button-up and khakis to wear under our Nittany lion blue graduation gowns. Do we need to stick to those specific guidelines, though? VALLEY doesn’t think so. We’re here with all of the unique ways you can upgrade your graduation getup to stand out from the rest of the students in your class. Let’s go out in style, Penn State.
Ditch the Dresses, Kick Out the Khakis
Have you ever heard of the “power of a white pantsuit?” With female icons like Kamala Harris and Adele sporting white pantsuits during pivotal times in their career, the two-piece has become much more of a statement than just an elegant ensemble. Not only will you be dressed for the occasion, but you’ll look like you’re ready to take on the world. If a pantsuit isn’t quite your style, try switching to a jumpsuit, romper or matching skirt and shirt set.
The standard suit and tie will just not suffice if you are trying to conquer the cap and gown look. Two-piece suits can be elevated easily with a few pops of color and unexpected patterns. Leave the khakis in college, please.
Statement Shoes
It may seem impossible to stylize a navy graduation cap and gown but fear not. All you need is the right pair of shoes to take your outfit to the next level. We’re not talking about wedges or dress shoes — go on and buy that pair of heels that you’ve had in your cart for the past few months without an idea of where you could wear them. You’re going to need some bold shoes to take people’s attention off your poorly ironed graduation gown, right?
Take Advantage of Accessories
You’ve got the outfit, you’ve got the shoes, so now it’s time to accessorize. When it comes to jewelry, we don’t think you can go wrong with a pair of statement earrings or a chunky bracelet. One of the most unique and fun ways you could spice up your look is by buying a bold pair of sunglasses to wear in some of your pictures. You need to protect your eyes somehow because your future is just too bright… get it?
The class of 2022 has gone through a lot during their college careers. It’s only right to go out with a bang. The graduation walk is your runway.
