How to Cure Your State College Spring Boredom

Fall in State College is an especially exciting time, given the football season and all its surrounding fanfare. Often seen as the quintessential Penn State experience, students are most socially active in the fall, whether they attend a game, a tailgate or a watch party. Heavily romanticized and all-inclusive, football season makes it easy to find things to do in the fall.

However, because football season does not last through the spring semester, many students are left wondering what to do on their weekends after waving a temporary farewell to Beaver Stadium. Don’t worry! VALLEY is here to provide some ideas about where to go and what to do this spring.

Concerts at the BJC

Although the Bryce Jordan Center is best known for being a venue for Penn State sports such as basketball and wrestling, it is also home to other exciting events that all Penn State students should check out! The BJC routinely hosts celebrity performers for legendary concerts that no student should miss.

Country music idol Carrie Underwood will be gracing the Bryce Jordan Center on February 10 this coming year as a part of her current tour, Denim and Rhinestones.

If rock music is more up your alley, you may be excited to learn that Bruce Springsteen will appear at the BJC on Mar. 18, and VALLEY expects an unforgettable performance.

Adding another face in the world of country to its roster, Penn State will also be hosting Kenny Chesney (and his signature cowboy hat) at the BJC on Mar. 25.

We urge you to take advantage of these opportunities this coming spring! After all, how many college students can say that their universities host such renowned musicians?

Show Your Support For All Penn State Athletes

While football reigns supreme as the most iconic of all Penn State sports, any student would be remiss in not showing the same enthusiasm for the many other talented athletes that call Happy Valley home. While the universal fanfare of the football season is easy to get involved in, VALLEY urges the student body to carry that enthusiasm into Spring 2022!

Perhaps the BJC truly is the hot spot of the spring semester, as Basketball season rages on. The Nittany Lions have been storming the court since November, with the season lasting until early March. Be sure to show up to these athletic showdowns with only the finest school spirit.

Until late March, you will also be able to catch the Nittany Lion wrestling team press on through what is shaping up to be a promising season. Bring your energy and voice to the BJC this spring to see them through it!
