Coats are in. Yes, obviously coats are in. They’re always in, it’s a coat. But, now they’re starting to be the star of the outfit. I find myself styling my outfit around my coats when it used to be the opposite. I’ve noticed others are doing the same.
I usually step onto campus expecting to see the classics, a cropped or long puffer. Now, it seems the cold isn’t holding back anyone’s exciting cool weather style.
Here’s what I’ve been seeing this season, and I’m not mad about it. Neither is VALLEY.
The mob wife

Ever since Target released the viral faux fur coat for only $40, fur has taken over and I’m loving it. Now, all ages and genders are sporting the cozy look this season. Fur has started to be styled more casually. I love this look as an elegant or everyday style.
Urban Outfitters and Nordstrom are two brands that offer great fur coats. While a few of their furs might be pricey, the styles are worth the extra investment.
Business casual is truly casual

Recently, I have been absolutely loving the long topcoat. More, specifically, when it’s dressed down. I’ve been seeing people style them with a simple sweat set, tote and little glasses. I’m obsessed.
Though it’s never been out of style per se, its popularity is definitely growing amongst the younger crowd. The Gap sells long topcoats similar to the ones style icon Princess Diana would wear.
Welcome back 80s

The leather bomber jacket is a blast from the past (pun intended) that has celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner fiercely on board. This is a classic. It can be dressed up or down and will always be that one go-to jacket in your closet.
Think of it as that one baby tee you wear too much because it just goes with everything too well. Most brands from ASOS to Edikted sell these classic coats.
Buttoned to the top

Lily Rose Depp has put trench coats on the map this season. They’re not just great for flashing people, they’re also great to style. While they’re not necessarily designed for the cold, layering under them and making the jacket a statement piece is a good way to show off your trench this season.
