For decades people have been asking themselves if boys and girls can really be friends? For some, it is a touchy subject; and others don’t care either way. Why has this become a controversial topic amongst boys and girls and their respective partners? VALLEY is here to share that not only can boys and girls be friends, but the importance of that platonic relationship.
Boy Space Friend
There have been so many books and movies written where the main characters have a purely platonic relationship with a person of the opposite sex. That bond is unbreakable and a lot of the time, unmatched. The boy space friend relationship is different from the relationship with a boyfriend. The space eliminates the sexual tensions between the two and forms the comfortable feeling of being around each other.
It’s a relationship that is built on trust, love and a lot of laughter. People that have boy best friends are always on their toes and come prepared with a joke for any situation. In many ways, a boy best friend creates a safe space for some to come out of their shell and see life through a different perspective.
The Duality
It’s no secret that boys and girls view the world differently in many ways. Generally speaking, boys seem to have a more relaxed take on situations whereas girls generally are more on edge and thoughtful. It might be a good idea to have a healthy mix of both perspectives in any given situation. Where one person might be more thoughtful and think out of their emotions, or the emotions of others, the other might offer a more spontaneous and critical view.
Many people don’t talk about how gossipy boys can be. It might sound bizarre, but somehow they are always in the middle of the drama. The issue is, a lot of the time they don’t stick around long enough for the full story. There was a trend going around about getting info from a boyfriend or boy (space) friend and coming back with only part of the story, often omitting the “meat and potatoes.”
In All Honesty
While your boy best friend might not be able to share with you the joy of getting ready or comment on your outfit, they will be brutally honest when they have to be. They will tell you what you need to hear straight up even if it’s not what you want to hear. Your boy best friend might tell you exactly when a guy is simply not that into you, whereas your girl friends might feed into the delusions more.
Oh Brother
The boys that one holds a strong bond with will vow to always be there for you no matter what. They become like a brother you never had, even if you have a brother, the relationship is like no other. You can count on them to be there for you when the world is falling apart.
Your boy best friend will play fight with you til the ends of the Earth, but they will love you harder than any other. He will protect you, have your back and be the first to make fun of you. In a world full of hate, there is so much love to give and receive from this type of friendship. Having your girls is important, but that one boy can change your life.
