“Are You The One?” is an MTV show that provides 20 singles the chance of finding love and winning one million dollars. For the first time in history, “Are You The One?” has a season that represents the LGBTQ community.
“Are You The One?” season eight shows 16 sexually fluid people on the quest to find love, hence, their “one.” Dr. Frankie Bashan, a clinical psychologist and “relationship expert” stops by the show to talk to the cast members and states, “These are smart, beautiful, curious individuals that want something more for themselves, and they’re eager to figure out how to make that work. I believe they will match and they will maintain, because of the compatibility piece they’ll be longevity. That’s my hope for them.”
Being that season eight brings an entirely new twist on the show with only sexually fluid cast members, anyone could theoretically be paired up with anyone. This increases the number of possible matches and drastically reducing their odds of finding the exact set of couplings bringing them closer to their prize of one million dollars.
As per the, “Are You The One?” Math blog, there are two million possible matches and these individuals only have 10 chances to find their “perfect match.” In the midst of social media’s buzz surrounding this season’s plot twist, VALLEY can’t help but notice that “Are You The One?’s” theme this season is fresh, cultivating and entirely new.
