From New York and London to Paris and Milan, VALLEY is here to round up the most prominent and wearable beauty trends from this years Spring/Summer Fashion Weeks. While every show was distinctly unique, there are some clear front-runners that will dominate in the coming season.
Pops of Color
Models donned brightly colored eyeliner across the board, especially purple and more pastel shades. Paired with a clean face, colored eyeliner added the perfect contrast around the waterline. In some shows it was even spread across the brow bone and bridge of the nose. Shades were uniquely flattering to each model and allowed their natural beauty to shine through. A pop of peach or berry colored lipstick is an easy way to work this trend into an everyday look.
Tin Man Inspired
Silver has dominated runway looks this season in a multitude of ways, but especially when it comes to make-up. For a party-ready look, go the gem and sequin embellishment route, adding silver sparkles to your eyelids for a shiny look. If you’re not one for a bold eye, try a disco-esque nail or sparkly hair piece.
Gucci’s new “flashbulb highlighter” trend is also perfect if you are looking for a simple hack to enhance your natural look. The technique could best be described as “reverse highlighting,” creating a flash photo effect that is sure to please the camera. Last but not least, and certainly not for the faint of heart, is facial piercings — most notably sported by Bella Hadid and Amelia Hamlin for Balenciaga. Add in some cool studs or hoops for an edgier look.
Baby-Face Base
From “no-makeup makeup” to “clean girl aesthetic” and today’s “baby-face base” one thing is clear — the dewy, natural look is here to stay. Balmain and Victoria Beckham especially showcased this simple look by emphasizing clean skin using hydrating serums and only a touch of bronzer and gloss. Versace went as far as hiring aestheticians from 111SKIN to prep models with mini-facials and their $600 Celestial Black Diamond Brightening Essence backstage before the show. Oh, to be a supermodel!
The Wet Hair Look
Love it or hate it, the slicked-back hairstyle is here and better than ever. While trendy sleek buns and ponies made numerous appearances, the fresh out-of-the-shower wavy look proved itself to be a staple for next season and the perfect complement to natural dewy skin. Look to Megan Fox’s recent red carpet looks for some tips on how to achieve this glamorous style for your next night out. If you are growing tired of this specific look, one major change has been ditching the part for a fully slicked-back up-do.
The ’90s Are Calling
Bold, black eyeliner reminiscent of ’90s grunge has officially returned. This is not too surprising as many other ’90s trends have been resurfacing recently, such as brown lip liner, skinny brows and voluminous curtain bangs. Some models rocked an intense cat eye, while others donned a fully lined lid with black eyeshadow to match. This dark, punk look offers a stark contrast to the otherwise natural and bright styles common for spring and summer.
