Keep Up Your Underarm Charm

SabineC.ArmpitLadies, sound the underarm alarm – it’s time to take a quick pit stop in underarm care. Though they may seem forgotten, your pits are no less important than the rest of your body. Take note of these tips to keep your underarms feeling healthy and smooth.

1. Shave Smart

Shaving your underarms the proper way can drastically reduce stubble and painful ingrown hairs. Women who use dull razor blades end up pushing down harder during their shave, resulting in scraping sensitive underarm skin. To avoid this, change your razor blades every 2-3 weeks or when the razor moisture strip begins to lose its coloring.

2. Give em’ a rest!

Wait a few minutes before applying deodorant after a clean shave. Certain fabrics and antiperspirants can irritate newly shaved underarms, so it’s best to allow your skin to recover. Shave before you head to bed and give your pits the night to rest.

3. Underarm hair can be sneaky

Underarm hair can grow in any direction it wants, so be sure to shave in all directions to get the closest and smoothest shave possible.

4. Exfoliate

For a quick fix, mix one teaspoon of baking soda with one teaspoon of coconut oil and scrub your underarms gently. The baking soda exfoliates while removing any dark or rough patches, leaving your underarms feeling soft and smooth. Leave the mixture on for 5-10 minutes, and then wash off.

5. Shaving is a personal choice

It’s important to remember body hair is both normal and healthy. Just as you choose how to style the hair on your head, under hair is no exception – though styling it may be slightly more difficult. It is important to note, however, that shaving your underarms can help reduce bacteria that may lead to odor. While it may not be for everyone, underarm shaving is known to leave many women feeling a boost of confidence.
