In the wise words of Kim K, “Being blonde is a full time job.” We bottle blondes go through a lot to maintain our strands. From expensive highlights to choosing a shade, being blonde isn’t always so fun. Use these tips to make being blonde a whole lot easier!
1. Save Money
Being a blonde is very high maintenance, so it can get extremely expensive. If you find yourself constantly scheduling appointments for touch-ups, highlights, glazes— the whole shebang— your wallet is most likely suffering. Every week, try skipping that takeout meal and putting aside $10 for the salon instead. In about six weeks time you should have enough money saved up for a half head of highlights!
2. Use products
There’s seems to be new products on the market all the time for blondes. You don’t have to try them all, but definitely ask your colorist what he/she recommends for your hair to help maintain the color. This will even cut costs so you don’t have to go to the salon to get the treatment, you can just do it yourself! A product we love is Unite Blonda Shampoo and Conditioner— a purple shampoo and conditioner that tones your hair by taking out the brassy colors.
3. Be Specific
Specificity is key in the salon. Ask for exactly what you want to avoid mistakes and get the most out of your visit. Try asking for thin highlights close to the scalp. Chunky highlights will most likely show your roots in about two weeks, while thin ones will blend with your natural hair color the best. Getting highlights as close as possible to your scalp will take longer for them to grow out.
