Sad news for Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler fans — after 10 years together and seven years of marriage, the couple announced their divorce on April 26.
When Cavallari first took to Instagram to announce the split, she indicated that the divorce is out of love.
“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce. We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart.”
Over the past few days, however, headlines have indicated that the divorce is not as amicable as it may seem.
According to E! News, Cavallari began looking for new homes in the fall of 2019. However, she ended up wanting to reconcile her marriage for the sake for her kids, and decided to stop her search. By March 2020, according to the divorce documents, they “realized the attempt to reconcile was not working and knew a divorce was inevitable.”
As Cavallari plans to search for a new home, she claims that Culter is blocking her from her funds as a way of “punishing her.” Cavallari’s attorney claims that this is typical behavior and alleges that Cutler attempted to intimidate her into agreeing to a proposed parenting plan that is “unfavorable” to her, by holding back her funds. It is also alleged that Jay is refusing to leave the couple’s current residence.
While some people find the divorce surprising, others could see it coming from a mile away. Many claim that Cutler and Cavallari’s relationship drama has been apparent for years, most noticeable on Cavallari’s reality show, “Very Cavallari.” People Magazine even published an article on all of the bad signs that can be seen throughout each season. The magazine also wrote that Cutler made Cavallari cry all of the time while filming.
Us Weekly reports that the current living situation for the couple is rocky and that they are currently taking turns being in the house with their kids; they alternate every three days. When Kristin’s not at home, she’ll stay with a friend, and when Jay’s not at home, he’ll stay at the Bancroft house.
New information on the split is being released on a day-to-day basis.
