Wikipedia defines ‘Narcissism’ as the pursuit of gratification from vanity or egotistic admiration of one’s own attributes. However, the cleverly named, limited edition, new NARS Narsissist Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette may just have you feeling that way about yourself after using it.
Although the colors are not the typical combination you would see in an eye shadow palette, they offer more versatility than one may think at first glance. These shadows can be worn dry for a sheerer, natural finish or wet for a more intense, vivid look. For achieving the wet look, I recommend using MAC fix plus.
As expected for NARS, the packaging is successfully compact and sleek. The slight difference from their normal black compacts is the eye-catching mirror exterior, which is beautiful even if it is a fingerprint magnet! The palette includes eight shadows, a mirror, and a travel-sized wet/dry brush.
The shadows in this palette are all shimmers, with the exclusion of the Sycorax (black), which has a matte finish, and Ursa Major (the brown exclusive to this palette), which has more of a satin finish.
The shadows may seem to be lacking pigmentation at first when they are dry, but the fact that they are very buildable and blendable makes up for this. If this is not enough for you, then wearing them wet will unmistakably intensify them. Whether it be day or night, you can achieve whatever look you are going for. It is like having the best of both worlds; even though you are only getting eight shadows, it is almost as if you are really getting sixteen.
Last year, NARS released these single dual intensity eye shadows (.05 oz) for $29 each. Now you can get eight of the shadows in this palette (.03 oz) for $79 (a $218 value). $80 does seem pricy, but even with the slightly smaller sizes the palette proves a great value for the money.
Taking into consideration that it is limited edition, has high quality, and much versatility, I would recommend this palette. It allows you to experiment with many looks by altering the finish and intensity of each one. Go ahead and get your hands on it now before it’s gone and make sure you share your Narsissist looks with Valley on Twitter!
