NYFW September 2024

Well, another NYFW has come and gone. Though the world has seemed to move on to the London scene, VALLEY is still astonished by the works that were unveiled. It’s impossible to include every brand or house that shocked its audience, but there are a few worth mentioning. So strap in and get ready, because fashion waits for no one.

Alaïa

Ah yes, bandeau tops and drama. Whereas some houses can try to mimic Alaïa’s unique style, VALLEY knows these attempts will lead nowhere. Even though the days of quiet luxury are over, there is something nostalgic about how these navy pieces flow. Tie in the dangling earring-necklace with the tan bandeau and the sound of elegance is back.

Heading in the other direction, the house’s creative director, Pieter Mulier, seems to have defied gravity with this look. The torso of this gown clings tight to the model, connecting the fabric to her body. This form creates a blushed second skin that flows and waves towards the bottom. Structure is crucial in dress design and this torso shape is second to none.

*Audibly gasps* It’s so good. No one else can do a more fun and sustainable collection than Collina Strada. Mixing colors and materials is their specialty. That is evident here with this peculiar, sensational lime dress. It’s funkadelic in the best way possible.

As noted before, the funk never stops. The vivid pops of color, aka a Collina Strada signature, truly make this look unforgettable. The lace-up bottoms paired with the ruffle boot speaks to who the brand is. They make unique pieces for those who want to stand out (and VALLEY is here for it).

Luar

Edge and glamour defined the pieces in Luar’s recent Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection. To start the show, none other than mother Alex Consani strutted out. The looks, composed of dark, sheer fabric and sharp silhouettes haunted down the runway. To speak plainly, it was “For The Culture.” Leave it to creative director Raul Lopez to stun a crowd.

To illuminate what VALLEY is talking about, take this ensemble. To the untrained eye, this look is just an all-black outfit. However, the beauty is in the details. The sheer top with metallic buttons perfectly contrasts the shining leather skirt. Add in the spiked cap and gold earrings and you have perfection.

The mourning of NYFW has begun. It’ll be okay though. Soon the wheels will turn again and New York will be flooded with celebrities and runways galore. What were your favorite looks from this year’s NYFW? Let us know @VALLEYmag on X!
