Some say he’s been the world’s boyfriend since “Call Me By Your Name.” Others know him by his famous rap, “Statistics (yup) statistics (yup).” Actually, scratch that, reverse it and you get Timothée Chalamet. VALLEY loves him and so do the people of New York City. In fact, there was a recent look-alike contest for the man we know and love.
Who, What, Why
On October 27th, the contest was held near Washington Square Park. Timmys far and wide showed up for the prize of $50. Additionally, TikToker Anthony Po created the contest. Whether he intended to create a huge crowd or not, over two thousand people rsvp’d for the event.
The Timmys dressed in different costumes ranging from Willy Wonka to laid back sweater Timmy. In each of the look-alikes, the same style and swagger were present. A small dog appeared in a black wig, fitting in with the rest of the contestants. The winner? Miles Mitchell, a 21 year old man, dressed head to toe in Wonka garb.
Along with the $50, Mitchell was awarded a trophy that said “Timothée Chalamet Look-alike Contest.” However, not all was lost for the other Timmys (as their hair was beautifully curled). The man himself appeared and took photos with some of the crowd before leaving for security reasons.
Crowd and Fines
The crowd continued to expand and the police were involved. One of the look-alikes was detained by the police. Anthony Po, the creator of the event, received a fine for $500 since the police department said the event was not permitted.
Nevertheless, this event serves as a reminder of how famous and awestruck Lil Timmy Tim Tim can make his followers. Over 15 people showed up, in varying fonts, to flaunt their similarities. The crowd grew simply because of media exposure and Timothée’s effect on, well, pretty much everyone.
Stardom and Fandom
This contest grabbed the attention of look-alikes, fans and nearby New Yorkers. It wasn’t the product of a group or Timmy’s loyal followers, but the simple dream of a man. A man with nothing else to do but bring people, and Chalamet look-alikes, together.
While Timothée only appeared for a short time, the crowd went wild. Attendees held up posters of him in adoration and screamed joyfully. The look-alikes, though not famous on their own, enjoyed the same stardom as the actor for one day. As their stories continue, VALLEY hopes to see them again, not just as Timmy, but as themselves.
