Boxes of chocolate, dozens of roses, countless amounts of oversized teddy bears; all of this comes to mind when we think of Valentine’s Day. But this time of the year isn’t only about showering your significant other with heart-shaped presents. Galentine’s Day, celebrated on February 13th, is the perfect holiday to let all your gals know just how much you love them. It’s a day solely dedicated to the love you have for your best girlfriends.
So, if you haven’t already been observing this fantastic holiday, this year call up all your ladies, and spend some much needed quality time with all of the friend-soulmates in your life. Here are a few perfect ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day with your besties before the hustle and bustle of spending the next day with bae.
Food (Obviously!)
Kick off your day in the best way possible: with food and lots of it. Hit up your local pizza place or Chipotle in t-shirts and sweats, or dress up and splurge on a fancy dinner at your favorite Japanese restaurant– you’re worth it! But whatever way you and your girls decide to grub out, be sure to top it all off with Dunkin’ Donuts’ perfectly appropriate— and delicious— heart-shaped donuts for dessert.
DIY Mani-Pedi’s
Nothing screams “girls’ night” more than a classic DIY mani-pedi. Put together a killer playlist (think lots of Beyoncé) and have everyone bring their favorite nail polishes. After mixing and matching polishes on your fingers and toes, all that there’s left to do is to try not to smudge your nails while jamming out too hard to “Crazy in Love.”
Netflix & Chill
To wrap up the day, invite all of your gals over for a mini movie marathon/slumber party. Throw on comfy PJs, pop some popcorn and binge watch all of your favorite movies until you can’t keep your eyes open anymore. A few flicks that are perfect for a Galentine’ s Day night-in, and all conveniently on Netflix, are “10 Things I Hate About You,” “Magic Mike,” “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Clueless.”
There’s a billion ways for you and your besties to spend February 13th. But no matter how you end up celebrating your Galentine’s Day, as long as you’re laughing it up and appreciating all of the lovely ladies in your life, then you’re doing it right.
