With exams and projects and papers underway, the 12th week in the semester has students up to their ears in no shortage of schoolwork. The Penn State Performing Arts Council has the perfect solution for a night off from the stresses of the semester, hosting their fourth annual A Cappella Sampler at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow in Schwab Auditorium.
Highlighting a cappella groups on campus, the event will feature performances by Blue in the Face, The Coda Conduct, Shades of Blue, Savoir Faire, Fanaa, None of the Above, The Pennharmonics, The Singing Lions and The Statesmen.
The theme of the event is “Through Song: WE ARE One,” focusing on “how Penn State as a whole comes together through music,” according to the official Facebook event.
“Our individual concerts usually pull in family and friends, but sampler pulls in a large audience of mostly new a cappella listeners, says Camryn Powers, a junior majoring in public relations, of Shades of Blue. “This is definitely the biggest and most diverse audience the a cappella community will see this year.”
As far as what the audience can expect, Turner Queen of Blue in the Face predicts a variety in genres from the different talent on campus. In terms of personal musical tastes, there should be something for every audience member.
This event is is free to the public.
