PSNtv Shines at First Annual Awards Ceremony

Penn State Network Television (PSNtv) pulled out all the stops Wednesday night for its first annual awards ceremony celebrating all the hard-working members and their shows.

The evening opened with a cute and casual mingling hour complete with a red carpet and photo ops, with every member clad in formal attire. The energy was high as friends and colleagues waited in anticipation for the ceremony to begin.

As the show kicked off at 7:30 sharp, it was clear from the get-go it would be a fun-filled night. The show hosts, Ben Bobick and Morgan Kravarik, opened with a hilarious number as Bobick put a ring on it to Beyonce’s “Love On Top” while Kravarik got down to Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy,” ending on a high note with a beautiful duet to Grease’s “You’re the One That I Want.” After that performance, it is totally understandable why this dynamic duo was selected as the front-running hosts.

In addition to Bobick’s impromptu puns and Kravarik’s spirited attitude, the ceremony featured special guests, including Dean Marie Hardin of the College of Communications and local student band Stuart Little. Attendees were even treated to refreshments and free swag during the show’s intermission – talk about the star treatment!

Throughout the night, a standout winner was sophomore Terrin Hartman, who won multiple awards including Best Director, Most Dedicated for PSN News, Best Interview for PSU Matchmaker and Viral Video for Hollywood Now.

“I pitched Hollywood Now at the beginning of fall,” says the broadcast journalism and international politics major. “I had so many things I wanted to do with it, and I’m so grateful for that. It’s taught me so much about editing, filming – everything like that.”

It’s clear that PSNtv has pushed boundaries and set the stage for higher-caliber videos for years to come. For sophomore film major Rachel Hein (Best Producer – Taste of State College), PSNtv’s year can be summed up with one word: revolutionary.

“[This year] was very fun, and a lot of great things happened [for PSNtv],” says Hein. “There were a lot of new shows this year and a lot of new producers, and the network is really growing and getting itself out there – it’s great to see.”

Congratulations on all your accomplishments, PSNtv – Valley is looking forward to what’s coming next!
