Are you a student in need of some guidance regarding resumes, career counseling or recruiting? Penn State Career Services provides exceptional services for students, including drop-in career counseling and mock interviews.
Drop-in counseling is available to students without an appointment Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m., at The Bank of America Career Services Center. They also host drop-in hours on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at the HUB. Career Services covers a variety of career topics and schedules mock interviews for students to practice for an upcoming interview in a realistic environment. The Career Counselors teach career courses each semester to better prepare students to make career path decisions and enter the working world; offering Effective Career Decision Making (Counselor Education 100), as well as Job Search Courses for Educators (Counselor Education 303), Technical Careers (Agriculture 100/Science 101), and Non-Technical Careers (Liberal Arts 401). Last year, Career Services had over 8,000 drop-in and full career counseling appointments!
Career Services has a trained career library assistant to assist with online and print career resources. One of these resources is called GoinGlobal, which allows students to search for international opportunities. InterviewStream, another resource, allows students to create custom interview scenarios, record their interview practice and much more!
Looking for help perfecting your resume? Peer Career Assistants are available and have completed a semester-long intensive course in order to meet standards to help Penn State students. The will review resumes and help with resources throughout the year.
Career Services organizes on-campus student interviews with hundreds of employers. Students can apply to positions via Nittany Lion Career Network, be selected for an interview, and meet with employers on campus. Career Services organizes over 25 career fairs each year, including two of the largest in the county. Be sure to check out the Spring Career Day in February 2017! Last year over 16,000 interviews were hosted on campus, including interviews after career fairs. Career counselors and staff present workshops and host events annually and by request. In 2016, Career Services presented over 325 programs and events for over 15,800 students, faculty and staff.
