If you actively keep up with the latest beauty trends and crazes, you’ve likely heard of Laneige. The brand itself was established over two decades ago in South Korea, but for the past couple years it has been picking up steam in the US beauty market as a result of a partnership with Sephora.
Although Laneige is not solely a lip-care brand, its lip products have received a substantial amount of attention from beauty bloggers and publications. The Lip Sleeping Mask received a Best of Beauty 2019 award from Allure, and all of their lip products have received countless five star reviews on the Sephora website.
Laneige has certainly established a strong brand image within the beauty community and amongst consumers; the simplistic but colorful packaging makes it hard to resist purchasing their wide range of masks and balms. There may seem to be no downside to their products, but with a more upscale beauty brand, comes a much higher price.
So, are these products worth the hype?
Lip Sleeping Mask
The Lip Sleeping Mask is by far the most talked about product by Laneige. It comes in three flavors and retails at $20. Given the name, it’s fairly obvious that the product is intended to be used overnight, but it can also be used during the day as a substitute for your average lip balm.
Even though $20 may seem like a hefty price tag for a small container of product, the consensus is that this product lives up to its expectations, and is especially worth it if you’re a sucker for lip care. It can be purchased in berry, vanilla, or apple lime — there is truly a flavor for everyone. It is also worth noting that even though the container may be small, the product lasts much longer than expected.
There are so many lip products on the market that claim to hydrate and cure dry lips but sometimes these products cause lips to be even more dry than before. Fortunately, the Lip Sleeping Mask does serve its intended purpose. With regular use, your lips will be considerably softer and more hydrated due to the mix of vitamin C and antioxidants infused in the mask. The aesthetically pleasing packaging and the scent of the product are just an added bonus to the formula itself.
Lip Glowy Balm
The Lip Glowy Balm is a lesser known lip product by Laneige, but it is just as useful as the Lip Sleeping Mask. It comes in four flavors: berry, peach, pear, and grapefruit, and it retails for $17 at Sephora. Each flavor, except for pear, provides a slight tint to the lips which is perfect for an everyday makeup look.
One of the best parts about the balm is that it comes in a tube rather than a pot. This makes application so much easier, especially if you’re someone who is on-the-go throughout the day and consistently applies lip balm. If you are willing to spend the money, using the Lip Glowy Balm during the day and the Lip Sleeping Mask at night can make your lips softer and more moisturized than they have ever been before.
Unlike the mask, the Lip Glowy Balm is not enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, but it does contain shea butter which makes it extremely moisturizing. This product provides the perfect shine for your lips, while also healing them.
