Ever wish you could wear high-end designer clothing without breaking the bank? Then Rent the Runway, an apparel and accessory rental company, is for you. On Tuesday, October 22, join Penn State’s chapter of Rent the Runway at their trunk show at Penn Tower Apartments (Apt. 311) from 4 to 7 p.m. for an evening full of designer dresses, giveaways and free samples. Valley sat down with Rent the Runway’s campus representative and event coordinator Kylee Orriss to get the low down on the event.
“We’re holding the trunk show to get Rent the Runway’s name out there, and let girls know about it,” Orriss says.
The Rent the Runway trunk show is open to everyone. It will feature a number of dresses from some of fashion’s biggest names in multiple styles and colors. There are hundreds of dresses in Rent the Runway’s online stock, but the Penn State campus representatives personally picked out each one in the show just for you. The best part? All of the dresses are available to try on.
Not only will you be able to try on dresses from some of the hottest designers, but you’ll also be the first to sample some free L’Oreal Paris beauty products. Free samples include makeup, nail polish and shampoo. To get your Rent the Runway experience started, those who attend will have a chance to win one of twenty gift cards for the Rent the Runway site. Laptops will be available during the event to sign-up for an account.
Rent the Runway is a great resource for college girls, but most don’t know enough about it in order to take advantage of all that is has to offer. Orriss hopes that the trunk show will bring brand recognition to the Rent the Runway name.
As with the uncertainty of buying anything online, the whole process of renting a dress may seem a bit intimidating- but Rent the Runway makes it simple. Start by going to the website and making a free account. Pick out the item you want to rent, check out (something we’re all too familiar with) and wait for your order to arrive in the mail.
No need to worry about being stuck if the dress doesn’t fit, because Rent the Runway sends you a backup size for no added cost. The company takes care of shipping and dry- cleaning costs, too.
Orriss says that there will be a social media contest for Penn State students. All you need to do is spot a representative sporting their Rent the Runway shirts on campus, and you could receive a gift card for the site.
Be sure to check out the incredible Rent the Runway campus representatives’ hard work turn into a success at the trunk show Tuesday.
