This past month has truly been all about Sabrina. Carpenter has won two Grammys (Pop Vocal Album and Pop Solo Performance), has appeared on the cover of Vogue, and has now released the deluxe version of her award-winning album Short n’ Sweet. The bonus album includes 4 new songs: “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman,” and “Bad Reviews,” as well as a new version of “Please, Please, Please,” that features the country queen Dolly Parton.

Short n’ Sweet (Deluxe), which was announced very fittingly on Valentine’s Day, builds off of Carpenter’s album that spent 2 weeks sitting at #1 on the Billboard 200 list. “Please, Please, Please,” was nominated for song of the year at the 2025 Grammys. Although the song ended up losing the Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” the Dolly Parton collaboration has been taking over the internet.
Bringing Country Back
Before Carpenter’s collaborating with Parton was even released, many fans had taken to the internet to discuss the seemingly country twang that can be found in Carpenter’s original version. The song brings a gentleness back to the album and features 80-inspired melodies and guitar.
Jack Antonoff, the album’s producer and one of the writers, told Rolling Stones Magazine that “there’s a Dolly feeling,” to the original album so it seemed only fitting that she joined Carpenter for the duet.

Two Blondes in A Truck
Alongside dropping the song, Carpenter and Parton teamed up to produce a music video for “Please, Please, Please ft. Dolly Parton.” Following along a similar story to the original song’s music video, Carpenter and Parton can be seen singing and driving in a pick-up truck. In the end, it’s revealed that they’ve kidnapped a man (who some say looks very similar to Barry Keoghan) in the bed of their truck.
The music video also is entirely in black and white while both singers are dressed in old-school mod styled outfits. There is no denying the duos similarities and many fans are picking up on their mother-daughter vibe as well. Fans are also wondering if this will lead to more country songs (and maybe an album) for Carpenter in the future.
