Penn State’s reputation as “The Greatest Show in College Football” truly proved to be true at this year’s 2023 Whiteout Game.
This year’s attendance of 110,830 – the second-biggest crowd of any Penn State home game – included visits from some major celebs like former Penn State defensive tackle Anthony “Spice” Adams, Brooklyn Nets players Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson, and most memorably rapper Sexyy Red.
Sexyy Red– born as Janae Nierah Wherry– quickly rose to prominence this past year with her breakthrough hit single “Pound Town” and her highest-charting song, “SkeeYee”.
The St. Louis native has taken the Hip Hop world by storm as “one of the biggest breakout artists of summer 2023” as declared by Billboard. Her connections with some of the biggest artists in music like Nicki Minaj and Drake have arguably made her the biggest thing in music right now.
Sexyy Red has appeared on hit songs like “Sense Dat God Gave You” with Summer Walker, remixes like “Shake Sumn” by DaBaby, “Slut Me Out” by NLE Choppa, and “Peaches & Eggplants” by Young Nudy featuring rapper Latto.
Her works on her own tracks as well as her featured work have officially put her on the map.
Penn State fans were shocked by her Whiteout attendance when she was first spotted outside Beaver Stadium waiting for the Penn State football team to arrive.
Sexyy Red had fans roaring in the stands when she appeared on the sidelines, fans took pictures and videos while she led the whole stadium in singing “SkeeYee” at the top of their lungs.
No one was more excited about her iconic visit than the football team themselves as videos later surfaced showing the team getting hyped up in the locker room to that same hit.
The Penn State community was blessed one last time when Sexyy Red appeared at the iconic downtown bar Champs for her surprise guest appearance with DJ Rictor.
To say this year’s Whiteout game was one for the history books was an understatement.
