The Saturday Night Live producers decided to kick off the new year with a brilliant host duo: Australian actor Jacob Elordi hosted for the first time alongside actress and singer Renee Rapp.
The episode featured a ton of other notable figures, such as Rachel McAdams and Megan Thee Stallion. The script even poked fun at both nicknames social media has given the stars: Elordi calling himself “baby girl” and Rapp calling herself “mother.”
Who is Jacob Elordi?
Jacob Elordi initially had his start on the Netflix movie series The Kissing Booth as Noah Flynn in 2018. Elordi has previously stated that he hated making those movies, due to his typecast officially established as the “angry hot guy.” His next role as Nate Jacobs in Euphoria only further cemented this type of role for him.
His Career Now
The release of Priscilla was a transformative moment in Elordi’s career. Many fans started to notice his ability to take on more serious roles. His ability to portray Elvis Presley earned the movie an 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Following the biopic, his role as Felix in Saltburn was able to build his audience and attract tons of positive attention. Since his break in romantic comedies, Elordi has been gradually building his career to take on more serious roles.
Who is Renee Rapp?
Renee Rapp had kickstarted her career on Broadway with the Mean Girls musical. Both her acting and singing abilities attracted a lot of attention, and since 2019 she has been building her career gradually (without the help of any famous relatives).
Her Career Now
Following her days on Broadway, Rapp began breaking into her Hollywood career as Leighton Murray on The Sex Lives of College Girls in 2021. Her name began to make more buzz in the media this year with the film adaptation of the Mean Girls musical.
Although Rapp has made a good name for herself in acting, she has taken the time to focus on her music. Released in 2023, her album “Snow Angel” has allowed Rapp to pursue music more seriously and grow her platform extensively.
Their SNL Appearance
The choice to pair Jacob Elordi and Renee Rapp as hosts on the first Saturday Night Live episode of the year seemed to be the smartest decision made for the show. With both actors being in the limelight recently, the episode attracted a lot of positive feedback from the media.
The episode singlehandedly highlighted what kind of career both have built for themselves and what is yet to come in the new year. Tweet us at @VALLEYmag with your thoughts on the recent SNL episode!
