Spring Cleaning Your Life

The spring break jitters and hangovers are over. It is time to get into the refreshing part of spring that does not consist of sleeping for four hours and waking up with the previous night’s make-up on. To clear up any confusion this will definitely happen during the spring, summer, winter and fall. However, now is the perfect excuse to have fresh laundry and a weekly routine to balance those not-so-clean moments.

Opening the shades is not so disappointing anymore. The sun has been shining in State College since it rose, so why waste day-light? Early classes are a good excuse to get the most out of the daylight before the clouds roll in. Even if you have nowhere to go, fresh air is free and should be used.

Where to Start

The season of spring itself is not expecting you to have a “life makeover.” Unless that is what you’re looking for, go right ahead but realistically the smallest changes could suffice for spring cleaning.

Doing laundry once a week, waking up before 9 a.m., cooking homemade meals if possible and really taking advantage of time outside. This is the perfect time to dig into the archives for those ab workouts that were saved in January to get started on the winter arc.

And as the saying goes, “April showers bring May flowers.” Expect many rainy days, but that shouldn’t halt the reorganization of your life. Progress can be made in the rain; that’s why gyms are indoors, and homework can be done at the kitchen table.

As scary as it is to say, the final weeks of the semester are nearing. Classes and projects are revving up and teachers are smiling behind their computers while they unlock the rest of the course’s Canvas assignments.

The Benefits

Influencers on TikTok are probably promoting the same behavior right now as they glamorize their life in a 30-second reel to make it seem like you’ve got it all wrong. That is the opposite of the truth. Obviously not every day is going to be refreshing or give “clean-girl.”

However, getting a tighter grasp on your day-to-day makes those hard moments a little easier. There are so little things we can control in life, but let the one thing you control be your life.

Inspirational right? But really, you do not need to start a 75-hard challenge because the weather got a little nicer. This is just a really good time to fix anything that might not be going so well.

Finally one of the best things to detox from your life would be that person making you check your phone for a response instead of stopping to smell the flowers.
