Family and friends gather every February to celebrate America’s most-beloved holiday, Super Bowl Sunday! Penn Staters get to crowd around their TVs one last time this year until next football season. Whether your team is playing in the Super Bowl or not, it’s important to remember what really matters — the food. Valley is here to make sure that you don’t spend too much time in the kitchen instead of in front of the TV with your friends.
Guacamole
What you’ll need:
3 ripe avocados
1 teaspoon of kosher salt
1/2 lime
Crushed red pepper
1 onion
1 tomato
How to make:
1. Cut open your avocados and remove the insides into a bowl
2. Mash the avocado with the back of a fork
3. Add salt and lime juice
4. Chop up your onion and tomato, adding as much as you like
5. Sprinkle of crushed red pepper (depending on how spicy you like it)
6. Enjoy!
Delicious Dip
What you’ll need:
1 block of cream cheese
Shredded cheddar cheese
1 can of no Bean chili
How to make:
1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
2. First spread the cream cheese evenly on the bottom of a medium sized oven dish
3. Add the can of no bean chili top of the cream cheese, spread evenly
4. Sprinkle a generous amount of cheddar cheese on top
5. Put in oven for 10 minutes, or until cheese is fully melted
6. Enjoy with tortilla chips!
Chili
What you’ll need:
1 lb ground beef
1 packet of chili seasoning
1 onion
2 cans crushed tomatoes
1 can of black beans (drained and rinsed)
1 can of kidney beans (drained and rinsed)
Cilantro
Crushed red pepper
1 Can of Corn
How to make:
1. First sauté the onions
2. Add the ground beef and cook until it is no longer pink
3. Pour in the 2 cans of crushed tomatoes
4. Add the packet of chili seasoning
5. Add all of the beans and corn
6. Chop up cilantro and put in
7. Sprinkle in some crushed red pepper
8. Cook on medium heat for 30 minutes with a lid
9. Stir occasionally
10. Ready to serve either with chips or on top of noodles!
Rice Crispy Treats
What you’ll need:
Rice Krispie Cereal
Mini Marshmallows
Salted Butter
How to make:
1. Melt 6 tablespoons of butter in a sauce-pan on medium heat
2. Add 6 cups of Mini marshmallows into the butter
3. Stir until all of the marshmallows are melted
4. When marshmallows are melted, turn off the heat
5. Add 6 cups of Rice Krispie cereal and mix until it’s fully covered
6. Using a spoon or spatula, scoop and press the mixture into an ungreased, shallow pan
7. Let them cool and then enjoy!
