Coachella Weekend One brought VALLEY too much FOMO that we had to log off of TikTok for the night. From the outfits to the performances, Coachella is not shy from attracting everyone at home on their couch waiting to watch the livestream performances at 3 a.m.
Something was in the air at this Coachella, and it wasn’t just the desert dust. Many performers at the music festival surprised their audiences with another musical guest who gave us the collabs we never knew we needed. VALLEY is here to break down all musical duos that appeared throughout Coachella Weekend.
Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey
Starting strong, we were graced with the angelic voices of Billie Eilish and Lana Del Rey. Lana headlined the first night of Coachella, singing fan favorites that had fans at home jealous. If the night could become more ethereal, Billie Eilish joined Lana on stage to sing “Video Games” and “Ocean Eyes.” It was the collaboration that elevated us off the Coachella grounds and a gift to all the people who witnessed the performance live.
Gwen Stefani and Olivia Rodrigo
A mix of generations happened on the Coachella Stage when Gwen Stefani and No Doubt brought out Olivia Rodrigo. Gwen Stefani and Olivia Rodrigo emulate the same pop-punk energy but from different eras. No Doubt reunited for the first time in almost a decade at Coachella, making their performance only more special to their fans. Olivia Rodrigo and No Doubt performed “Bathwater,” which Rodrigo has stated in past interviews about that being one of her favorite songs to date.
Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky
A classic duo. Tyler, The Creator and A$AP are known to be close friends and have produced music together. While their last musical collaboration has been a while, it was amazing for fans to see them come together to perform “Who Dat Boy” and “Potato Salad” which are two special songs to see Tyler sing if you follow his music way back to the WOLF GANG and ODD Future days.
KE$HA and Renée Rapp
Ke$ha shaped our childhoods and molded us into the baddies we’ve formed into. While Ke$ha brings back memories of blaring her music from our iPods, Reneé Rapp’s rising career is nothing short of captivating for any new listeners. Ke$ha’s music hits close to home, and Reneé Rapp brought back nostalgia when she and Ke$ha performed her classic hit, “Tik Tok.” The performance made us feel like that little kid jumping up and down in our bedrooms while listening to all the 2010s Pop Hits.
Will Smith and J. Balvin
One of the more random music collabs this past weekend was J. Balvin surprised the crowd with Will Smith to perform “Men in Black.” The rapper-actor appeared on stage in the classic black suit and aliens floating around the screen to encapsulate the classic movie Will Smith stars in. Is this his ultimate comeback from the 2022 Oscars?
Tems, WIZKID and Justin Bieber
Tems, a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer, tweeted before her performance about a surprise for her fans at Coachella. While the suspense built up throughout her amazing set, WIZKID and Justin Bieber surprised fans by performing their song, “Essence.”
For all the JB fans, seeing him perform feels like once in a lifetime as he has cut back on live performances. The mix between all of their voices creates a soothing atmosphere in the Coachella air.
