Most of us saw the Bachelorette finale on Sept. 3 and how devaating and heartbreaking it was for Jen Tran, 26. What some did not acknowledge is how a lot of girls can relate to this whole situation. We all have experienced a guy we gave all our love to and then all of a sudden he switches up, it’s a canon event. People tend to be empaths with something they have first-hand experience on, therefore the audience of Bachelorette finale was extra emotional.
In the finale, Tran stated how after the show ended, Devin Strander, 28, her soon to be husband, ended the marriage on a phone call with her. The producers brought Devin in after they hadn’t seen each other in person ever since the breakup.
She had to sit through the finale and watch the proposal in front of the whole audience with Strander sitting next to her. A lot of people on the internet disagreed with this as it looked uncomfortable and painful for her. Tran was crying, the audience was in shock, it was a sentimental moment for everyone.
Despite this, Tran stood up for herself and told Strander how what he did, did not align with his actions. “Instead of communicating with me on how you actually felt about me, you said you were having doubts on the show and you hid all of this from me,” Tran stated in the finale. “It’s hard to sit here and deny what you are accusing me of” Strander Responded, as he was taking accountability for his actions. However, this still doesn’t excuse all the stuff he put her through on national television.
In some way a lot of women can relate to this situation and understand Trans’ emotion. We all have been through something similar or know someone that has. In a way it empowered women to stand up for themselves and always be a kind person. After all of this, Tran still wished him the best on his journey. “The truth of the matter is, I am still that same woman I am,” Tran stated, showing her classiness and goodwill.
Now Jen Tran is in a new adventure as she is going on the show Dancing With The Stars for season 33. Something good always comes out of a heartbreak, and maybe this will help her heal. An anonymous Penn State student that once went through her ‘Devin’ said “What really healed me after that was finding and loving myself first before I could ever love the right person.”
