In case you missed it, Jennifer Aniston joined the Instagram community last week, and the platform wasn’t ready for her debut. The actress joined on Tuesday, posting a picture with her former “Friends” co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc. When posting this epic selfie, she captioned it: “And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM.”
Aniston’s appearance on social media made a wave for a new Guinness World Record, setting the fastest Instagram account to reach 1 million followers at five hours and 16 minutes. Doing this, Aniston took the title away from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry who previously held the title with the launch of their @sussexoyal account.
With this crazy record, the photo caused her account to crash. “We are aware that some people were having issues following Jen’s profile,” an Instagram rep wrote in an email to CNET. “We are thrilled to have this ‘Friend’ as part of the Instagram community! As of now, people should be able to access and follow her profile with no problems.” This made some fans upset since they were unable to follow her for a certain period of time. However, this didn’t stop her from reaching a follower count to crash through the roof. Since her debut on October 15, as of Sunday, Aniston has 17 million followers.
After posting a selfie, Aniston has since added four more pictures to her account, dipping her toes into the crazy waters of the Internet. Her second post is a funny video of her throwing her phone with a caption that read: “I swear I didn’t mean to break it… Thank you guys for the kind, glitchy welcome.” This video amongst her other posts seems to be focused on candid moments about her life in the spotlight.
Some of Aniston’s celebrity friends took to their accounts to welcome her too! To name a few; Chelsea Handler, Kerry Washington, ‘Friend’ co-star Courteney Cox, co-star Reese Witherspoon, and even her ex-husband Justin Theroux posted pictures as a warm welcome.
Be sure to check out out Aniston’s Instagram @jenniferaniston to stay updated with her candid life! The only “friend” who has yet to join Instagram is Matthew Perry, so let’s hope that after Aniston’s debut, Perry won’t take long to follow her footsteps.
