The Rebirth of Burgundy

Year after year, the fall colors go out of style faster and stronger than they came in. However, lately we have seen a surge of colors recurring each fall. Shades of brown have been an easy way to add more color to your outfit besides neutrals like denim, black or white. This year, fall has given us something even better: the rebirth of burgundy.

She’s Back

Numerous stores all over the world have begun to drop fall lines that are featuring one common color: burgundy. Classic stores such as Abercrombie & Fitch, or brands with an online presence such as White Fox Boutique have all started to embrace the colors of the season. They promote the idea that this pop of color from the fall is burgundy.

For years, red and all shades of the color have been either loved or hated by individuals. Now, 2024 has brought a whole new outlook to the color. The rich and sophisticated shade of red gives a more fall-ish vibe than your typical red. With jeans changing from light to dark wash, it’s time to change the shades of everything else too.

Rich History

Before the color made its comeback, red was frowned upon because of its summertime bright shade and was criticized when worn by those with pale skin. However, VALLEY thinks pale skin and dark hair fit the color red perfectly. With the deeper and richer tone in burgundy, it pairs better with all shades of skin or hair, making the color very versatile for everyone looking for a change.

Fall has always brought oranges, yellows, and reds, mostly inspired by the colors of the changing leaves. In recent years, all of these colors have been more muted. Burnt oranges, pale yellows, browns and creams have taken over boutiques and stores everywhere. For the past few years, the color red has been almost impossible to find in the seas of brown and cream, but this year, burgundy made its comeback.

Aside from burgundy in clothes, more people have been dying their hair deeper shades of red to try something new and embrace a different look. So, not only is burgundy impacting the fashion industry, but slowly the beauty industry too.
