In defense of women’s health, girl power, and all things pink and scented, the Pennsylvania Pink Zone is teaming up with Penn State Thespians this Thursday, October 22nd to pink-out the HUB.
The theme of the day is “Act Pink. Play Pink. Think Pink,” a tagline that gives a swift bend-and-snap to Ms. Elle Woods and her Delta Nu sorority sisters in honor of the Thespian’s promo performance of Legally Blond that day, but also highlights the upcoming Pink Zone Lady Lions game and overall mission.
“Pink Zone is a unique organization in that we may be small in size but we are big in heart. Each member has a deep passion for the cause. I am extremely grateful for the support of the Legally Blonde cast, I think they are the perfect group of people to help spread our message and help get our name out there,” said Courtney Buckel, President of the Student Pink Zone organization.
Students from the Pink Zone student group will be manning a table near the stage in an effort to raise awareness and answer any questions about breast cancer education, the Pink Zone organization, or the Lady Lions basketball game, which will be held January 17th of next spring. In between songs from the musical, the Pink Zone will also be making important announcements about upcoming events, fundraisers and ways to get involved.
According to Pink Zone publicity intern Victoria Scialfa, one of the best ways to get involved with the Pink Zone as a student on campus is by joining the student group sub-division of the organization.
“They work so hard and it’s a very small group. I’d love for people to, if they have interest, come by and maybe get involved in this organization because they need more help,” she says. “These girls, some of them are actually personally affected by breast cancer. Some of them have moms who passed away or a family member that’s suffered and had to go through this fight. I think that’s really cool that we’re having them stand in the HUB as advocates for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.”
The Student Pink Zone organization is a campus club that participates in Pink Zone events, but also does its own fundraisers. Getting involved is as easy as stopping by their HUB table on Thursday and signing up for (yet another, but this time PINKER) listserv and checking out their social media.
Non-gemini vegetarians welcome.
The Pennsylvania Pink Zone is partnered with the Lady Lions to promote cancer awareness and empowers survivors through year-round efforts to raise funds critical in supporting vital breast cancer organizations, charities and facilities that focus on breast cancer education, prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
