Spring break is finally here after eight straight weeks of classes. Since the semester is now officially halfway over, midterm exams and essays are in full swing. Students just can’t seem to catch a break.
Maybe the hustle and bustle of Fort Lauderdale doesn’t sound appealing right now. But, if you’re looking for a reason to stay home for spring break, VALLEY has got you covered.

Taking Time to Relax from School
Spring break means one full week of no classes, homework, exams and the stress of being a college student. Take this time to catch up on everything you’ve had to cut out of your life because of school. This could be getting back to going to the gym or picking up that book you started to read at the beginning of the semester.
Planning trips are also stressful, especially during spring break when everyone’s going to the same place. Take this time to de-stress because the last thing you need to worry about is your plane to Florida being delayed or checking out of your hotel room on time.

Staying Home = Saving Money
Popular spring break spots will gouge their prices this time of year. Think of the hundreds of dollars that can be saved by not booking a plane ticket or hotel room, and avoiding the overpriced drinks at the beach.
Take advantage of being home for the week. You can have your favorite home cooked meals for free and maybe even steal a few things from the pantry on the way back to school. You could even pick up a shift or two at your summer job. Either way, staying home for the week will definitely be a big money saver compared to going on a trip.

What To Do Instead
Use spring break as a time to spend with your family and hometown friends that you only get to see a few months out of the year. Go to your favorite hometown bar or have a night in with your childhood friends.
The possibilities are endless. Pick up a new hobby, try a new workout class or binge watch a new show. There is so much you can accomplish in one week when there’s not homework and classes consuming the majority of your time.
The important thing is to use this time to do what you want to do. There is no pressure in needing to plan a weeklong spring break vacation because everyone else is.
