When you’re standing for 46 hours and can’t leave the floor, dancers want necessities on hand, but out of the way. The answer? The hands-free wonder that is a fanny pack. It’s not just convenient, it’s one of the best ways for a dancer to accessorize.
We’ve had our eyes peeled for the most unique fanny packs and even took a peek inside.
Just about every fanny pack contained the basic necessities – phone, camera, tissues, ChapStick, hand sanitizer and most important of all, a THON survival guide. Yet, no two dancers are the same and many had unique fanny pack stuffers. The most common items were playful, such as water guns, bubbles and a marker for the kids to draw on the tables. We also saw a lot of miscellaneous items, including everything from playing cards to sunglasses, perfume and a kazoo.
Kyle Cuba kept his fanny pack stuffed with toys.
Jolie Wehrung says that a lot of dancers keep cough drops in their packs because they will often get hoarse as the hours wear on.
Although the fanny pack is convenient, we all know it is really a dancer’s best accessory! Here are some of our favorites from the weekend.
We loved this bedazzled pack worn by Lauren Killian.
Michael Valania rocks this appropriately “punny” pack.
Kelsey Thompson’s pack was not only unique and sparkly, but un-bear-ably cute and cuddly. (Sorry, we had to.)
